The Grand, nestled in the heart of Puri, offers a delightful vegetarian dining experience that is both tranquil and spiritually enriching. Located conveniently near the iconic Jagannath Temple, this restaurant is a perfect haven for devotees and food enthusiasts alike. The standout feature is undoubtedly the terrace seating, which affords patrons a breathtaking view of the temple, especially as the sun sets and the temple lights glow.

Food lovers will appreciate the variety on offer, from the well-prepared South Indian classics like Masala Dosa and Puri Bhaji to local Odishi specialties such as Baigana Bharta and Dalma. Each dish reflects a commitment to traditional cooking methods, with an emphasis on hygiene and freshness. Diners have praised the flavorful, satvik meals, noting their simplicity and authenticity.

The Grand's ambiance enhances the dining experience, combining modern decor with a spiritual vibe that reverberates through each meal. The courteous staff and relatively quick service add to the pleasant atmosphere, making it easy to unwind after a day of temple visits.

The Grand, located near the iconic Jagannath Temple in Puri, is widely appreciated for its pure vegetarian, Satvik menu that emphasizes traditional Odia and Indian flavors without onion or garlic. Reviewers frequently highlight the restaurant's clean and spacious ambiance, with terrace seating offering exceptional views of the temple and surrounding area, enhancing the dining experience. The food is generally described as wholesome and satisfying, though some note that prices are slightly on the higher side and service can be average during busy times. Overall, The Grand is favored for its serene atmosphere and hygienic environment, making it a popular choice for visitors seeking a peaceful and culturally rich meal near the temple.

If you’re visiting Jagannath Temple and looking for a good pure vegetarian restaurant nearby, The Grand is a great option. The restaurant has a clean and spacious environment, and the terrace seating is truly special — from there, you get a clear and beautiful view of the Jagannath Temple. The temple looks divine from the top, and you can also see the entire market area, surrounding streets, and local life bustling below. We tried a variety of vegetarian dishes. The South Indian food was impressive — especially the Masala Dosa, which was crisp, tasty, and well-prepared. Then we had Puri Bhaji, which was delicious and satisfying. We also enjoyed a cup of chai, which was simple and very refreshing. To end the meal, we tried Chhena Poda, a famous sweet from Odisha. It was soft, perfectly baked, and had an authentic local taste — a must-try! Overall, The Grand offers delicious vegetarian food, peaceful terrace vibes, great service, and a truly memorable view of the Jagannath Temple. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy good food after darshan or sightseeing.

A good place to enjoy a wholesome meal while soaking in the temple’s divine atmosphere.

This restaurant is conveniently located near the Puri Jagannath Temple, making it a great spot to stop by after your temple visit. One of the standout features is the terrace seating, which offers a fabulous view of the temple — especially beautiful during the evening when the temple is lit up. The serene location adds a special charm to the dining experience. As for the food, it’s decent and satisfactory, though nothing particularly outstanding. Most of the dishes are flavorful, but there’s room for improvement in terms of consistency in taste and presentation. The menu covers the basics well, making it a reliable choice if you’re hungry after darshan. Service is generally okay — the staff is friendly and polite, though during busy hours, they can be a bit slow or inattentive. The ambiance, however, is where this place truly shines. With a nice blend of traditional and modern decor, the setting is peaceful and inviting. It’s a comfortable place to sit back, relax, and enjoy a meal while soaking in the spiritual vibes of Puri. Overall, I’d rate the experience a solid 4 stars — definitely worth a visit for the location and view alone. #TempleViewDining #PuriEats #JagannathTempleFoodStop #ScenicDining

This is a good place for vegetarian food near the Jagannath Temple. They serve tasty thalis, dosas, and North Indian dishes. The terrace seating offers a great temple view, making the experience special. Prices are a bit high, but the food quality is decent. Service is average, and it can get crowded. Parking is available, but limited. A nice spot for a peaceful meal, especially for those looking for satvik food!

A Divine Experience at the Heart of Bada Danda – A Must-Visit Satvik Restaurant in Puri! If you’re in Puri and looking for food that doesn’t just satisfy your taste buds but nourishes your soul — this pure vegetarian Satwik restaurant in Bada Danda is a spiritual and culinary treasure. This place serves strictly NO ONION, NO GARLIC food, rooted in purity and tradition — the kind of meal that feels like a sacred offering rather than just food. We visited twice, and each experience was unforgettable: Day 1: Roti with Santula — light, balanced, and filled with homely flavors. It felt like Prasad from a temple. Day 2: Dahi Pakhala Thali — just speechless! A soulful, cooling, and fulfilling meal that truly reflected Odisha’s traditional Satvik culture. TASTE: 10/10 Every dish is prepared with such purity and devotion, you can taste the spiritual intent in every bite. Nothing is overpowering — it’s simple, sattvic, and deeply satisfying. HOSPITALITY: 10/10 The staff is courteous, patient, and humble. They serve you with genuine warmth — something you rarely find elsewhere. VIEW: 1000/100 — Truly Divine This is what makes this place absolutely unique: a stunning, unobstructed view of the sacred Jagannath Temple right from your table. No other restaurant on Bada Danda offers such a majestic and serene spiritual view. Dining here with the towering Sri Mandir in sight is not just a meal, it’s a moment of devotion. Now, a humble note to those checking the ratings — Please don’t go by the numbers. The current rating is heavily underestimated. Some low ratings appear to be from people who clearly weren’t looking for authentic Satvik food. I even saw a few asking the waiters for raw onions — at a Satvik restaurant! This place is about purity and tradition, not fast food or masala-loaded meals. If you’re here for true Satvik food, a spiritual atmosphere, and a divine dining experience, this restaurant is beyond five stars. Also, don’t miss the stunning photos on @pixelmemorybyRkay — they capture the magic and majesty of this place perfectly. Highly recommended for anyone who values food as devotion.

The restaurant is on the first floor in the Grand centre just opposite to the Shri Puri Jagannath temple. The temple is visible from the restaurant. Accessible by stairs to the first floor, there are two dining halls to the sides of the stairway. Came here twice for lunch, the first time had baigan masala and the second time dal fry with roti. Baigan masala was good with some bell peppers in it, not very spicy. Dal fry was also good, along with lime juice . There is also an outdoor seating but mostly open in the evening due to the heat during daytime. It's a great choice for vegetarians

Located right in front of the Jagannath Temple, The Grand offers a comfortable and relaxed dining atmosphere. We tried their thali along with a refreshing lassi, and both were delicious, simple, and filling. The calm ambiance paired with good service made it a pleasant dining experience after temple darshan.

This is a good place for vegetarian food near the Jagannath Temple. They serve tasty thalis, dosas, and North Indian dishes. The terrace seating offers a great temple view, making the experience special. Prices are a bit high, but the food quality is decent. Service is average staff is arrogant, they don’t provide onion etc . Due to location it’s crowded which creates arrogance in even in door guards and they don’t have system of waiting .Parking is available, but limited. A nice spot for a peaceful meal, especially for those looking for satvik food!
